CHARGESHEET AGAINST GEORGE W. BUSH

We the People of India and the World -

Drawing upon all the great traditions of justice, fairness and plain decency evolved in the course of human history;

Upholding the right to life and its perpetuation in all its forms everywhere;

Resisting with all our might the ongoing assault on human rights, values and liberties by the forces of capital, racism and authoritarianism; and

Affirming the overwhelming need for a global uprising against the relentless march of US militarism across Planet Earth;

Hereby charge George W. Bush, the US Government he represents and all its allies around the world with the following (among countless others) crimes against humanity -:
- Attempting to restore the era of Western colonial rule over the world through devastating violence and systematic looting of resources of weaker nations;

- Violating and indeed summarily rejecting all known international laws governing relations between countries of the world;

- Planning, preparing, and waging the supreme crime of a war of aggression in contravention of the United Nations Charter and the Nuremberg Principles.

- Murdering in cold blood over 200,000 citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan in the first phase of this project of global recolonisation;

- Targeting civilian populations through indiscriminate use of violence, systematic destruction of infrastructure and collective punishment of cities and towns;

- Using illegal weapons including napalm, depleted uranium, cluster and white phosphorus bombs against both civilian and combatants in violation of the Geneva Conventions;

- Using deadly violence against peaceful protestors in the occupied countries;

- Subjecting Iraqi and Afghani soldiers and civilians to torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment;

- Obstructing the right to information, in particular through assassination of journalists and deliberate military targeting of media facilities;

- Willfully devastating the environment, including through use of radioactive material with potential to harm all life forms for centuries to come;

- Planning the use of nuclear weapons against adversaries such as Iran in the near future;

- Bribing or bullying developing country governments, such as in India, to become partners in its global crimes;

- Emerging as the greatest threat to global peace, security and human well being since the advent of the Nazism under Adolf Hitler.

We solemnly pledge that we will not forget, forgive or rest till we bring the perpetrators of these enormous crimes to justice no matter how long it takes or what efforts it calls for.

An open letter to 'Emperor' George Bush Jr.

Dear George 'WMD' Bush,

It is with both great happiness and grave apprehension that we the people of India await your arrival in our country.

Happiness because in the few hours you will be engaged in shaking hands with our country's leaders your fingers will be - at least for a little while - away from the nuclear doomsday button. Happiness also in the hope that the grease you put on the palms of your political underlings here will make the many triggers all of you control that much more slippery.

There is a lot of apprehension too as your visit could become the latest source of pollution in our ancient land already poisoned over the years by your country's various multinationals- from Union Carbide of Bhopal gas notoriety to Monsanto of GM seeds infamy. Your own crimes against humanity in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo are of course far worse than that of these corporations and if the Ganges were not already as contaminated as it is unfortunately today - we would have happily recommended a long dip in its holy waters.

We know you have friends- or shall we call them loyal subjects- in very high places in our country. Shri Manmohan Singh, misleadingly called 'Prime Minister of India' when he is really a CEO of your subsidiary company- will be there constantly at your beck and call. But then for this former civil savant turned international servant-
whose soul and spine were stolen many moons ago by the IMF, World Bank and other dark forces you represent - it seems to make little difference what master he serves.

You will also find the Congress that rules India even more pliant than the US Congress you control back home. Having buried Gandhi and Nehru in both body and spirit long, long ago this political party that once fought the British Empire has become the Trojan horse of American Imperialism in India.

There are others too from our country that will welcome you ? captains of industry, merchants, bureaucrats and sections of the Indian media- who already think of themselves as junior partners in your vile Empire. Truth is they are as much in awe of the weapons of war you so wantonly wield as they are mesmerized by the petty commercial carrots you dangle before their eyes.

But make no mistake 'Mr Wannabe President of the World' - India is far more than the name of your pet cat on the lawns of the White House. And though our leaders lovingly wag their tails at you it is not a domesticated dog either.

Instead it is a full-blooded country of over a billion people who have seen through many tyrants of your type several times over in their long history. We packed off the British Raj just over half a century ago and have no intentions of letting its illegitimate American offspring sit on our heads instead.

And we are not alone in our struggle against Imperialism on this globe either. From Vietnam to Venezuela and Iraq to Indonesia we have had and continue to have deep ties with people everywhere from around the world who have stood up in defence of their national dignity, sovereignty and the right to conduct their affairs in whatever manner they see fit. We have long historical memories too of the US establishment's atrocities and massacres around the globe Hiroshima, Haiti, Greece, Guatemala. Cambodia, Chile - the sacrifices of countless brave citizens will not go in vain.

Your regime's latest attempts to bully or bribe the Indian government to join your machinations against Iran will also go nowhere because the people of this country will forever resist your immoral attempts to capture the assets of weaker nations by force. By tempting the foolish Indian government with a dubious nuclear pact you have
attempted to divide and rule the developing world but we can see through your imperial politics and have the means to unravel it too. Your concern for the `national interest' of India in striking a nuclear deal is going to make our country so powerful to the point of extinction. Mr 'Emperor' not only do you not have no clothes on you are trying to pull some non-existent textile over our eyes too!

So Mr 'Emperor' when you soon land in India remember - irrespective of what your weather 'experts' tell you- the temperature on the ground will be several degrees hotter than anybody can predict. True, this will be partly due to the general rise in global temperatures your regime has so wantonly contributed to plus the hot air you have such a talent for - but much of the heat will really be due to the burning anger aroused by your presence in our midst.

Believe us we promise a very warm welcome to you and all in your entourage and hope to make your trip as memorable as possible. This collection of films on the crimes of your country's various regimes we are showing the Indian public around the country is just the first of many salvoes we are firing.

It is still not too late to turn your jets back to Washington where Uncle Dick 'Shotgun' Cheney eagerly awaits your presence on a long and exciting safari somewhere. Happy hunting and watch your back.

People became refugees in their own country.

People of America Protest Against their Government's policy in countries like El-Salvador. Youth of El-Salvador also had to join the Army since there was no other option to form a popular government.

People in El-Salvador suffer a lot due to the American Policies.

The film shows the pathetic state of affairs in a poor country like El-Salvador due to the American interventions.

BOMBIES- 57Min

Between 1964-73, the American Airforce dropped several bombs in LAOS. This was part of a `secret war'. Among the bombs dropped was a special bomb called `Cluster Bomb'. Out of the cluster bombs nearly 30% of them never exploded and are still seen all around in the country of LAOS. Cluster Bombs were designed to kill.

Since these Un Exploded Objects (UXOs) are still there in large numbers all round Laos they are like mines. Children and People working in their fields are at high risk even today. The film exposes how the Capitalist forces wanted to put an end to the Communism in South East Asia.

two short music films are by Cynthia Madansky.

It is critique of the American Policies. Cynthia uses the American Flag and Anthem to highlight America's attitude and its war policies.

She says about the American Flag: "Red is not terror, White is not Peace and Blue is not Home Country". The film is presented with graphics and music.

Peace and Liberty Rally – 25 Minutes - By

This is a rally that was held on 24th Sep 2005.

About 100,000 people took part in the rally which was held at Hyde Park in UK. There are several speeches by many anti-war campaigners. This film shows the speeches by Tony Benn, Tom Hayden, John Pilger andDr.Salim Ismael.

Bahari was so disturbed with the scenes he was seeing on TV about the war in Iraq. So he set out to make some films about the realities of the war. He describes what he found in Iraq.

America! America! - 4 .5 minutes,
An Anti-WAR Music Video By K P Sasi

Based on Kamaan Singh Dhami's anti-war song "American War Paar Da! (Check Out the American War!)", the 4-minute music video is a satirical but severe indictment of America's role in escalating world conflict. Originally written following the post 9/11 bombing of Afghanistan by the USA, and developed to address the occupation of Iraq, the song comments on various aspects of the American empire - its stockpile of nuclear bombs,
its cozy relation with fanatical and dictatorial regimes, and in fact, the very notion of American peace and liberty.

The song is set to the tune of the popular Sinhalese song "Surangini" and has English lyrics and a catchy chorus in Tamil. Dancing sometimes on Bush's shoulder, sometimes on the roof of Washington's White House, and sometimes in a colourful parade of children protesting against war, dancer Malavika Tara Mohanan embodies the indomitable spirit of resistance and satire.

B Jayashree, Bangalore's well-known theatre director and playback singer, has sung the song, while activist and singer, Sumathi, has been part of the conceptualization and music production.

Stop Killing My Kids- 25 Min

This is on the protests that happened in UK against the war in Iraq. Brian Haw is the only person allowed to continue his protest against the war in Parliament square. This film shows Brians protest and the generous people who support him while he lives on the streets of Westminster.

The film also shows tragic scenes from Iraq in which children are victims of the war.

Still Life- 15 Minutes – A film by Cynthia Madanskey

This is a short film by Cynthia Madanskey a Palestinian filmmaker.

She presents the film in a different way with lot of questions thrown at the audience. The film is shot in Gaza area in Palestine.

It shows the wall, the broken buildings, broken houses, schools, destroyed gardens, playgrounds, unhygienic living conditions, and barbed wires all round, bullet shots in all the buildings.

It shows how people live in Palestine today.

The shots speak for themselves of the daily horrors that people who live there face. It is again due to American Policy in the Middle East and its support to Israel.

Battle's Poison Cloud (On the war in Vietnam)

This film shows the deadly effects of the Agent Orange on the Vietnamese People even after 40 years after the war.

Between 1965- 1973 in the 8years of war the US used several strategies to win the war. The fight against communism took dirty shape when US resorted to Chemical War Fare and used Agent Orange on innocent people of Vietnam.

Agent Orange contains Dioxin to a well-known toxic herbicide. It has devastating effects on the living things. When it was sprayed itself the leaves shed and the trees fell, due to the large tonnes of this chemical. Then, after clearing the forests with this chemical, the US forces used Nepam bombs to totally ransack the place. What was a very good forest reserve was converted into a Desert within few days.

Dioxin destroyed every living thing (the flora and fauna) of Vietnam. On the human beings there it had a devastating effect. More than the 8 million Vietnamese killed during the war, it is the victims of Agent Orange that continues to kill them daily. Most of the victims of Agent Orange are disabled with several deformities. It shows the war still continues in Vietnam. The film shows you the tale of victims of Agent Orange. The soil of South Vietnam when tested was found to contain Dioxin which was 17 % more than the WHO standards.

The film clearly shows how the Empire destroyed a fertile land into a burial ground. The victims of Agent Orange will continue for generations to come.

A multi-venue film festival in India for peace

The unipolar, globalised world is witnessing unilateral attacks on nation states and communities. The empire's scorched-earth policy that devastated Vietnam, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Korea, Somalia, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia and many countries in Latin America is now aggressively pursued in Afganistan and Iraq. The next stop may be Iran or Syria.

India, once a champion of world peace and non-alignment is now being drawn into the group of cheerleaders of global aggression. India is hobbnobbing with the US for better market deals, nuclear technology and a global stature, but ignoring the collateral damages of US aggressions.

In this context, we have collected a package of 8 documentaries expressing concern on communities across the world that suffered the wars and crimes of the US-led empire. We would like to reach out to groups all over the country with this package along with a poster and a pamphlet so that the `concern for human dignity' can be expressed.

`Concern for Human Dignity' is a network of groups and individuals in different parts of India, committed to peace and dignity.
